Penske Ford F-350 16' Truck

We finally emptied out our Public Storage Unit. We drove from Glen Mills, PA to Chicago, IL in a Penske Ford F-350 16' moving truck. We liked it a lot more than most of the moving trucks we have rented. We moved a lot of parts for Nausicaa, our 1993 Honda Prelude project.
Basically, captain's chairs and cruise control plus a suspension that is not ridiculously bouncy makes for a much better driving experience. We had no problems at all and were as comfortable as we have ever been in a moving truck.

I found this one rather easy to maneuver (going forward or backward). I think I am starting to get used to driving things this big. I am not sure if I like that...

The captain's chairs are comfortable enough. Much more comfortable than when we had a bench seat moving from FL to MA. Though the bench seat had the advantage of being able to stow the cats, in their carriers, underneath it.

This time we remembered the auxiliary cable for audio and one of the cup holders was very convenient for putting our phone holder into. Unfortunately the only power port that worked was the one in the glove box but our cables were long enough. (At least this truck didn't have a gash in its side. Visible under the word "Van" in "Gentle-Ride Van".)

I overestimated the space we would need. This did make loading and unloading very simple. Changing your reservation is rather complicated after the making it and would not have saved us money but maybe a little fuel economy.

Fuel economy for the trip was as follows (takes regular gas):
Tank 1: 135.4 miles, filled with 19.205 gallons @   7.05 MPG
Tank 2: 207.5 miles, filled with 22.676 gallons @   9.15 MPG
Tank 3: 162.1 miles, filled with 18.842 gallons @   8.60 MPG
Tank 4: 212.2 miles, filled with 23.554 gallons @   9.01 MPG
Tank 5: 116.2 miles, filled with 11.529 gallons @ 10.08 MPG

Totals:
Miles: 833.4
Gallons: 95.806
Average MPG: 8.70
Fuel Cost: $227.54

We are really happy to be done with the storage unit and to have the parts to the shop to work on Nausicaa.
