The standard shifter length is a bit short and not as close to the steering wheel as we would like it to be. Therefore something longer is needed. The longer shift lever is also too long, especially if you add a shift know on top. Ultimately we are probably going to have this shift lever cut and shortened to the desired height.

Ultimately this is a shorter shifter than stock in terms of throw. It is also very desirable to have minimum hand travel between shifter and steering wheel. This way, when you shift you can move your hand the minimum distance necessary to shift. You are thus able to maximize the amount of time that you have two hands on the steering wheel with a manual transmission.
